The Guardian launches Bollywood blog

There’s (probably) still a month to go until the next run of Indian films on Channel 4*, but if you can’t wait until then there’s a new UK Bollywood blog to get your teeth into.

The Guardian’s fortnightly filmi column launched earlier this month with a mission to review new Indian films released in the UK.

Its first installment covers Zoya Akhtar’s Spain-set road movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Singham, whose cast is led by Ajay Devgan as an incorruptible village cop.

There’s praise for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which stars Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, but the Rohit Shetty directed Singham receives a rather tongue-in-check response for its OTT action sequences.

The best way to keep track of the new blog is either through The Guardian’s Bollywood section or the newspaper’s film blog section.

* Channel 4 usually begins its longest Bollywood season of the year in the second week of September
